15.Mar.2011 New features added to Twitterfountain

As per today, we have added a couple of new features to the Twitterfountain:

  • Better support for special characters, like é, ç, ü, etc.
  • Links and @usernames in tweets are clickable. We’re working on refining this feature. For example, it would be better if an animation pauses while you hover the mouse over it.
  • Flickr and Picasa images are less pixelated when enlarging them.

If you experience any issues, please let us know in the comments.

A profanity filter would be great. Something like ‘do not show tweets with (insert words here)’ would be great.

We are looking into options for moderating a twitter stream, for example by blocking offensive users.
Filtering out words doesn’t really work because you’ll need to filter for a LOT of words, and still you won’t be sure a tweet isn’t offensive. I have to add that we’ve personally never experienced a problem with offensive tweets, have you?

I would love to use this as a dynamic visual of posts coming from specific users. In my case, working for a school system, it would be fantastic to be able to specify the account names each school has and have it construct a fountain from posts made by those schools.

    Very neat!

    Hi Jared,

We’re working on a new version of Twitterfountain that will allow you to do just that. Hang in there, we hope to launch the new version in September!

It’s bugging me that it is impossible to block users that are abusing the fountain to spam. I’m looking into that problem at a conference right now, but it seems that we won’t be able to do it using twitterfountain alone :(

We agree, some kind of moderation would be nice to have at a conference. We are working on a solution right now! If you need a custom solution you can also contact us directly. http://blog.twitterfountain.com/contact/

Ik wil drie zoekwoorden intypen die alleen in combinatie de juiste tweets moeten opleveren (dus geen ‘hits’ op de afzonderlijke woorden). Is dit mogelijk?
