30.Mar.2011 Twitpic support re-activated

We’re happy to announce that we have finally fixed the issue with Twitpic images.

You can now show images from twitpic urls in the background of Twitterfountain. You can also disable other images by setting image source to “no images”. Twitpic images will still show!

This works especially well for seminars where visitors are tweeting images, instead of posting them to Flickr. Recently this has been used at the dutch literary festival “Boek en Bal”:

    Hi!

    - Have you considered that allowing links actually may cause spam on popular sites using your app on the frontpage?
    - Please could you at least make the external link opening in a target=”_blank”. Because when using iframe (as we must do because of cgi-script) it crushes the box where it is located.

    Thanks

We will change the link targets to “_blank”, but what do you mean by “causing spam” ?
    Thanks,
    Erik.

    Thanks Eerk

SPAM? I have noticed that after the links were introduced that some spammers on twitter, started pushing their links to their sites by simply mentioning our Twitter username (which we are using for pulling relevant messages on the fountain) .

I guess that in order to stop that, it requires advanced options for filtering unwanted messages. An issue that the other Twitter solution have.

    Kind regards
    On Elpeleg

I am seeing the same issue as KlaasjanFM I have some test tweets with both twitpic and yfrog and neither are showing up …have you any ideas how to resolve it?

We are aware of the “t.co” link problem. We are working on a solution, but this might not be implemented in the next couple of weeks. As a workaround you can email your pictures to your Flickr account so that they will certainly show up in the Fountain. We’re sorry for the inconvenience!

  • @Erik, do you have any update on the t.co link problem?

  • Erik says:

We’re currently working on a big update. It might still take a while before we can finally solve this issue, sorry!
